Inappropriate email contact

Unsolicited and threatening emails or contact via the web often begin with, what appears to those who are uninvolved, apparently innocent contact.
In situations where there has been previous abuse the very act of contact is of itself viewed as threatening and abusive without reference to the content of the email.

Swift and timely reporting of all inappropriate attempts at contact is usually the best policy in dealing with these initial "probing attacks" especially from known abusers.
Be aware that email harrassment is really the same thing as someone harrassing you in person, so it is important to report it to the proper authorities, promptly.
